Paul Uhl Pottery - Home - Gallery - Care - Show Schedule

For the past 25 years Paul has worked in clay as a potter and a sculpture, his main interest being
the vessel. Paul has a background in clay that started at Luther College in Iowa, studying with
Dean Schwartz. Afterwards he traveled out to Tuscarora nevada to work with Dennis Parks, followed
by a apprenticeship in Saint Paul MN., later some studio work in Houston TX. and finally finishing
up his formal education at the University of Texas in Austin. Since then he has worked as a
studio potter in Smithville Texas, where he lives, works and spends time with his kids, Tristan and Kara.

Paul shows his work all over the country, he is represented by numerous galleries and has his work
in many private collections. Over the last 15 or so years, he has traveled the country doing some
of the finest Art shows in the country, winning Best of Clay at Boston Mills, Best of Show in 2-D
at Portside Art fair, Artist Choice Award at Hathaway Brown, Best Display at Old Orchard Art show
and numerous Invitational Awards.

When not working in the studio, Paul and his kids can be found outside riding and or racing road
and mountain bikes. It's a full rounded life that keeps the work fresh and moving ahead. Always on
the lookout for a new idea, an image or form that might transform into a vessel with an eclectic
life of its own.
